ONE SUMMARY OF YORUBA HISTORY ON THE INTERNET FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA in USA

PRIORITY NEEDS ASSESSMENTS:

There is a priority need for cooperation to compile and publish soonest possible a central modern, comprehensive Yoruba-English -Yoruba Digital Dictionary acceptable and easily affordable to all potential users and students of Yoruba Language all over the world. It is ideal if such a dictionary could be accessible for download by all for free, at least online. That way it could be easily downloaded by anyone with web access anywhere and made available to individuals, schools and other institutions that can make very good use of it but majority of whom would otherwise be unable to pay for access either because they are unable to afford it or because of practical logistic barriers to effect payment.
A recent update of my ongoing search on Yoruba world population, language, projects, products and services on Computers and the Internet, known to me or accessible through the Internet has just been undertaken. Up until now, one cannot find any complete comprehensive modern Yoruba Digital Dictionary available to browse freely online or use for proofing documents on computers on or offline. Individual and group initiatives, with keen healthy competition must continue to be recognized encouraged and rewarded.  The current search update has however reconfirmed the urgent need for improved, more effective web based avenues for communication, collaboration and standardization between IT Experts, Technocrats, Linguists and other Experts with invited, welcome, useful inputs from native, proficient Yoruba Language Users, Students of Yoruba Language, Culture and Development, Authors, Publishers and other interested parties from all over the world.

OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY ILE-IFE NIGERIA AS YORUBA LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE  DEVELOPMENT HOME BASE APEX  INSTITUTION.

As current solid good work continues  to be contemplated and done all over the world, it is suggested that all Yorubas   most willingly accept, rally round, assist and empower Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Nigeria to effectively serve as the Yoruba Language and People World Development  Home Base Apex Institution. This is good for much needed rapid conversion of valuable, still yet locally available, reliable Yoruba oral tradition into digital data. Such data can then enjoy efficient secure storage by the institution. The stored data can in turn be made accessible to Yoruba students and workers from all over the world. In addition, the Institution can collectively offer enlightened leadership for focus on worthy priorities and historical continuity. Individuals come and go but good institutions do survive to perpetuate and advance every good contribution to human development after predictable inevitable physical departures of contributing individuals from the local and world scene.

What suggestions do you have on the best ways to go about securing a better more effective, more global, active web communication and cooperation for Yoruba language and people development by all enthusiasts and gifted workers with something to contribute? Please reply by e-mail to
